About Me

Hello! I'm Reid, a current Professional Master's student of Cartography and GIS at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

No mind can know all things at all times; I would certainly know. The real trick is to take "brain melts" and render it down into "barely-comprehensible", in ways our meaty, oh-so-fallible brains can grasp. To that end, my career has fundamentally revolved around synthesizing and summarizing data. As a paralegal, I built systems to turn 10,000 pages of medical, correctional, legal, and narrative data into 20-page briefs for the California State Parole Board. As I see it, cartography is an extension of that drive to comprehend the incomprehensible. Through some species of eldritch sorcery, cartographers transform spreadsheets into art. To that end, I want to be a wizard.

I can be caught in flagrante delicto in all kinds of lunacy, i.e., history, 3D art, reading, history, linguistics, moving heavy circles (weightlifting), geopolitics, cooking, strategy games, urban planning, ecology, board games, and history. I really don't think I can adequately convey how much I love history. I suspect my portfolio gives some indication.

If you'd prefer a less-deranged and more-focused summary of my background and work experience, I'd have a look at my resume.

If your better judgment tells you to reach out to me, regardless, here's how.
