Downtown Madison is a lively community, but has experienced rather a lot of gentrification over the past decade or two. This is particularly severe along State Street, connecting the university campus with the state capitol, and arguably representing the backbone of local tourism. Locals still have to get by, and this isn't always easy, with rents and rates as they are. To that end, I decided to share my experiences with living in a lively, expensive community on a budget, via an interactive walking tour, featuring photographs I took while personally walking it, one weekend. Creatively speaking, I have a deep and abiding love of ostentatious, highly-ornamented work product, but this is, and ought to be, much more focused and minimalist. This project was an excellent opportunity to learn how to really focus on only including the most important and relevant details. This approach made for a fun change of pace and solid source of artistic growth!
